Yanchep Secondary School Stage 1 – Main Works
The Main Works Stage 1, Yanchep Secondary school was constructed in 15 months and consisted of five double storey Buildings, a bus shelter and pump house, hockey field, oval, three car parks, and twelve thousand square meter external concrete pavement and outdoor basketball/netball/tennis courts including a vast soft scaping works.
The buildings included; an administration block, café with commercial kitchen, science laboratories, general classrooms, library, resource centre, woodwork/metalwork shops, ceramics and sculpture studio, welding bays, spray booth, two food technology rooms, drama studio, textiles and human development, media, digital design, IT laboratories and a sports hall.
The construction comprised of a concrete frame ground floor with post tension suspended slabs, followed by a steel frame first floor structure with colour bond roof coverings and sky lights. The façade involved a combination of materials, including face brick, aluminium glazed window suits, colour bond cladding, and danpalon. Ground floor partitions were generally brick work with render and white set, except corridors which were predominantly face brick. First floor walls were primarily metal stud and gyprock with the corridors again being face brick. The finishes involved fixed furniture, floor and wall tiling to wet areas and vinyl and carpet floor coverings.
There was an extensive artwork work package which consisted of wave form aluminium screen louvers, wave form digi-art glass and two feature face brick pattern 3D walls.
Mechanical air conditioning comprised of evaporative air conditioning, fan coil and condenser units. A 30kW solar PV system was installed as a power generation scheme to save on the running costs.
The project was completed on time and opened for the 2018 school year.
